The C. Intermedia was open waaaaaaay back behind a couple Cyms and I didn't see it. Looks to have been open awhile. Probably a month or so old. Sorry about all the noids. They come to me this way, usually on death's door step, from the donation and opportunity tables at all the shows I attend. Hope you like them.

Tryingtoflower, What seems to be the problem with not getting your catts to flower? Mission V.....they should be flowering about now. Specifics please. And pics if you can. You have the warmth and light levels in OC so you should be able to get them to flower. Do you attend the Newport club's meetings? There are some very good growers that attend the meetings. They would be more than happy to help you. They are having their annual spring show this weekend up in South Coast Plaza. You should go. 405 and Bristol I think. Lots to see. Ok.... let's see what you have. Maybe we can give you some pointers.

I'm sure most are blooming size, get enough light and fertilizer and I'm still waiting. I do plan on going to the show tomorrow and maybe pick up some tips. I've gone to NHOS meetings when I can and hope to join soon. I'be probably read every posting on cattleyas I can find.
Where in far NoCal are you? Coast or inland? Phals love the coast up there as long as they can get some warmth. I fertilize at every watering. Dilute. I started using Ray's kelp stuff for better roots. Seems to work ok. That noid phal (all of mine are noids) has bloomed well since I got it next to the dumpster where I lived a few years ago. It's parentage probably gave it that trait. I've seen pics of phals in Japan that looked like bridal gowns. I give my phals as much light as I can short of burning the leaves. A couple of leaves have a little singe to them. But with this many flowers it will take a whole season to get back to where it can bloom again. Takes a lot of energy to flower like that. My catts get as much light as I can give them also. The plants may not look like much but they bloom well. For those that are reluctant bloomers I switch fertilizers when they rae half grown. High N until half grown and then I switch to a low N/ high PK. Works for me. Tucker and Ray got me going on a good Cal/Mag too. Better growth.
