Curious about my Coelogyne mayeriana but having a hard time finding any info that really answers definitively any of my questions. Was hoping someone here has one and could fill me in.

Mine has a new growth, about 2'' or a little more now, and initially I thought it was a spike, but the tip is pointy (not mitten-like). This would seem more like a new lead than a new spike. But I also read that the flower spike fades and then grows into a pseudobulb. Is this correct, it seems strange to me?

I've never had a Coelogyne so any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with this species, but do know it is difficult to tell spikes from new growth on Coelogynes ...I don't believe new growth comes from spikes ...

Hopefully someone with more knowledge of this species will chime in!
