Question Can I put them in a glass containter?

I have 4 seedling Cattleya I rescued from Lowes. I am planning to put them in a glass container. Plan to put some glass rocks in the bottom. Then have the plants in orchid substrate from Lowes. I figured that way I could see the water in the rocks but make sure it didn't go high enough to get to the bark orchid mix.

Now I'm thinking this won't work. I've done so much reading I think I'm getting myself confused .

Help please.

My advice would be to mount them.

But yes. You can use a glass container, but I would not put them in without drilling the glass first for drainage.
I would scrap the marbles, and use an extremely airy open medium.
Maybe even drill some holes on the side.
Cattleyas love air flow, and most of them like drying out before the next watering.

Catts like to dry out. I had some in semi hydro a while back. The actually got new roots, but once I removed them, they really startedto grow.

How you grow orchids all depends on the climate in which the orchids are grown and what orchids you are growing. That is why you will find so many different suggestions on what to do with them.
Basically, increasing temperature, air flow, and light will increase the need for water for most plants. Also, if your cattleya isn't putting out new growth, it might be at rest and will need less water. When it is in rapid growth, it will usually need more water. However, too much water will cause the roots to rot.
Living here in Ohio, I prefer giving my orchids, including the cattleyas, good air flow around the roots so I plant mine in plastic vanda basket/basket/net pots, and use red lava rock as a medium. I have a few that are mounted, too. Just depends on the type of cattleya and what type of environment you can offer your orchids. Good luck@
