Should I use rooting hormone?

I have some rooting hormone. It's at-least 5 years old. I don't remember what I used it for .

Should I use a rooting hormone when transplanting my seedling cattleyas? If yes, how do I use it? Do I use it only on a plant with no roots or what?

If it's that old, it probably has lost it's mojo and should be thrown out.

Are you referring on a powdered form or liquid? If it's the latter, Jeremy is probably right. If it's the former, it's probably too chemically concentrated for the relatively delicate tissue of an orchid.
