Hello, I have phalaenopsis and I notices some of its roots are sticking out of the pot, so that they are not in the medium. i think it looks very pretty and i want to continue keeping some of those roots out. Will that dehydrate or damage the plant??? the roots are turning from green to silver THANK YOU!!!
You can leave them out. I take a spray bottle and spray it a couple of times away from the plant, like into a sink and then run the damp sprayer nozzle over the roots to hydrate them so they don't dry out and die.
These roots will continue to grow outside the pot and can become a tangled mess to deal with quickly. If they are at the top of the pot I tuck them into my pots. When the pot is full of roots then move it up slightly in size. They turn silver when dry and need to be watered/misted more frequently when out of the pot.
thank you so much! i was worried. But just wondering how often should i spray water on the roots? i seem like the roots turn silver in just a few minutes
