James: I'm about 5 hrs south of there. I've been up in the Grand Canyon/Flagstaff area before but that's the farthest north I've been in AZ.

But from what I read here, Lowes in the U.S. often has even bloom size Catts with tags for a good price, so would be a good place to start with a Cattleya. Often some desirable hybrids too.

Our society did get some very nice Catts from Sunset Valley Orchids this fall when he was speaking in Edmonton. Prices were only $12.00 and $15.00 per plant. Several have bloomed already.
Maybe a little hijacked... lol

It's interesting how much these things can vary.
My Homedepot carries only NOID phals and cymbidiums. Recently bag babies have made it to my local Homedepot.

$29 on sale... sheesh. You guys are definitely dedicated to your orchid hobby.
Here, at Lowe's, a full sized blooming plant is $29.99. On sale they drop to $15.
It's a great deal actually. The orchids are always tagged, in excellent shape near me, they come in bloom, and you have a year to return it even if you completely kill it.

I envy your catts from svo. I keep staring at their web page.

That would put you in the Phoenix area. Or Winslow. Lots of space out there.
