I sure wish we had a Lowes. I'm always hearing about what nice orchids they have.

Me too. We don't have a Lowes here but I have heard that the ones in Canada don't have the bag babies and such as they do in the U.S. anyways.

I was at Home Depot today and they had nearly spent looking Cymbidiums with no name tags for $51.00!! I got my NOID at Walmart for $21.00 a couple years ago.

Well, the problem is that the closest place where orchids are even sold is in omaha, and im clear up at the north border of nebraska. Any trip that would take place would be three or four hours one way, so I feel like im pretty well limited to what is on ebay.

and you people are making me so jealous! the only orchids that you can remotely find around here are phalaenopsis... no catts, oncid, or anything! idk... i guess it just sucks sometimes to live in the middle of no where

I hear ya! We are pretty much in the middle of nowhere too! I think you should wait till spring and meanwhile look on some web sites for reputable orchid companies in the U.S. Browse the sites and choose a nice order of a few special orchids in the meantime. Then come spring you have some lovely plants headed your way.

Orchid shows are another good way to be able to buy plants. But maybe you are too far away from them too. We have to travel 500 km to Edmonton to attend our closest show that has a good number of vendors.

Please try Sunset Valley orchids. Very good quality plants at reasonable prices. When I retire in a couple years I think I will look around and find you folks who live in the middle of nowhere and I'll bring you some nice orchids.

Living in the middle of nowhere sucks. The closest wal-mart is 1.5 hrs away from me. I can get phals at the Lowes there but I haven't seen any Catt or bag babies. Trader Joes is there too but most of theirs is not labeled. EBay and online stores is where I have gotten half of my plants.

I need a greenhouse in the Phoenix area to get orchids but I haven't found any yet.

The orchid show here in tulsa is march 29-30 this year. I got a few of mine from there a couple of years ago. I am looking forward to it but I also know I spend way too much money when I go. My catts and came from lowes almost 3 years ago and they are growing nicely but not sure how long it takes to get to bs. I would think the Phoenix area would have a few shows during the year.

$51.00! They aren't usually that expensive there. I bought one for $30 one time. Sometimes our local Safeway has them around Valentines, [I think they were $35] and sometime Walmart has them for $25
