reblooming dendrobiums
This is one of those D. phalanopsis hybrids, not to imply it is a phal, there's probably just a dendrobium species with this name. These are what I call hardware store orchids because they are so common. I tend to avoid them but got mine in Florida from a rather pushy gas station manager. I've managed not to kill the two I have but neither rebloomed from the original stalk. One lost all its leaves and the other is in the process of putting up a new growth. Dendrobiums easily loose leaves when underwatered. They invest most of their energy in the canes. I've noticed the phal hybrids bloom only once directly from the top of a newly matured cane. Perhaps some can bloom again from the cane but I've never seen kikis on any of these plants.
