Awesome tips, thank you so much :-D. The Satsuki has been taking forever to thicken up and I was beginning to wonder how anyone gets a nice "Tree-shape" to them with their natural habit of just "shrubbing" out.

And I completely agree with your assessment spike, spike, pbulb.

Do you the one spike should be pinched/chopped back to stimulate more root growth if its root system is as poor as stated?

Personally I would probably do that, and throw some hormone on like KelpMax.

No!!! Each pbulb is a new plant. Complete within itself. It grows and then depending on which species it is, sends out roots. Some as they grow. Some as they mature, before throwing a flower spike. And some grow, bloom, and then grow roots. Most are hybrids these days so have different habits. The old pbulbs continue to absorb nutrients for a season but after that they seldom grow more roots. They basically are storage vessels for the succeeding new growths.

I think each phal has a spike. The spikes keep growing longer and they are narrower than the roots. Also they keep up towards the leaves instead of the potting mix.

I'm so excited.

The spikes are progressing nicely. They each have one node already and they look good. My Sogo (the 2nd pic) is still putting out roots like crazy too. My NOID is being grumpy and not doing a thing with it's roots.

Edit ------
I was taking a closer look at the NOID roots through the pot and found some mold. I've taken everything apart and cleaned out the dead/dieing roots. I also boiled the LECA. I will putting everything back together soon. I might just cut that spike on it to get it to think about the roots more.
