Terri Checked out your quilt pics. Beautiful. You are very talented. Makes me want a quilt but all my stuff is packed away for now. Hoping to move soon. Then I will have space for my quilting and orchids.
Although I may have to buy a few more orchids to fill up the extra space. LOL

Beautiful quilts! I tried my hand at quilting once and I can appreciate the work and planning involved.

My husbands grandmother use to quilt. She passed away at 97 still quilting. She did it all by hand, every part of it. We have a quilt she made for us, it is beautiful. She made them all from extra pieces of material never buying anything. She came from the era that you save everything.

Your quilts are just beautiful, I use to want to try it but I guess life took over.

I know! Isn't it awesome??

Thank you all. Quilting requires patience just like growing orchids. As long as you aren't in a big hurry to get them done it's a very satisfying hobby.

My mom still makes quilts at 87. She makes baby quilts for all the newborns at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Ca. She has made over 180 quilts for them. She's made quilts for many people. Anniversaries. Weddings. Birthdays. Lots of stuff. She's got two old Singer sewing machines but still does most of it by hand. She's quite something. She likes the old Quaker patterns and the old New England patterns.

I just wanted to thank you for your post. I recognized so much in it, and it feels great not to be the only one over-doing everything. I have Phals pretty much down to pat (still runt into trouble with them of course, otherwise I wouldn't be me), but I'm still learning to care for Paphs.

So far, I've murdered a couple of them, and at least three more are dying (I know why they're dying though, and I've learned my lesson - one of many...). I wish I could learn without killing them though, but that seems impossible for me.

I also check my orchids every day, since they are all in different sized pots, they have different needs (some LOVE to be watered often, others will award me with yellowing leaves if I dare to give them a drop too much), and the temperatures and humidity also affect whether or not they want water.

I have about 80 orchids (Paphs and Phals with a lone Dendrobium, a Neofinetia, and two Phrags thrown into the mix) and it's a lot of work with them, but if I care for them daily, it means I wont have 60 to water in one go.

Again, great post and thank you for an entertaining read!
