Default Cymbidium Health Yellowing Bulbs

Hi there,
I was looking for some advice on the health of these two cymbidiums. Both are purchased from a nursery a couple of hours away from where I live. The smaller cym is mine and the larger that needs to be repotted is my mums.
I was concerned about the yellowing around the bulbs and moving up the leaves.
They get watered only every so often, they haven't been fed in a couple of weeks. They only get unfiltered morning sun and filtered afternoon sun. It's summer here in Victoria and even though it hasn't been over boiling (yet) in my area, the sun still has a very decent kick in it.
Looking forward to some feedback, thank you.

Edit: At the moment, I can't post pics due to a forum problem, but as soon as I can, I will. Can anyone give me a head's up on just the description please?

Can't really say without seeing a pic ...

Could be normal - older pbulbs can become yellow, and older foliage gets shed ...

Checking roots can't hurt ...

I agree with White Rabbit on a diagnosis without photo, but if your large bulbs are firm to the squeeze, they are probably OK and just shedding outer leaves. If they are shedding all the leaves, that is another problem which definitely needs a photo.

The bulbs are still firm to touch, no squishyness about that. I will try with the pics again, thank you.

There is nothing wrong with these cyms other than they need some cleaning up and I would divide them and repot in a better media. Go to your local garden club or orchid club if there is one nearby. Yellowing of older leaves on older pbulbs is normal. Loss of leaves on older pbulbs is normal too. These will shortly throw out new growth and I would want new media for those to grow into. Dividing and repotting will enhance next fall's blooms. If there are no clubs to help you, we can help you divide and repot. Good luck.

fantastic, thank you so much for that. So even though its summer here, it will be alright to repot (and divide)?

Absolutely! I did not realize you were in the southern hemisphere. And yes, both plants needs immediate attention!

If you will message me personally with an addy I can attach a doc to, I will send you the the Cymbidium Repotting procedures we use for the Gold Coast Cym Growers hands-on workshop every year. Many OB members have sent for it and by reports have found it very helpful. It is adaptable to all climates.
