Default Spike or root? Angraecum Germinyanum

In reference to the little nub at the base of the leaf. My first guess is root, but with this species I'm still a total newb, so confirmation would be helpful to differentiate.

Either or will be fine with me but I'd be stoked for a spike.

My first guess is root too, but you will only know with the time. The two things are very simmilar at the beggining.

I am pretty sure it is a root. The spikes appear where the leaf joins the stem.

Can you see the little brown stems - those are old spikes. Here is the mature plant.

Absolutely beautiful plant you have there. I'm completely jealous. Mine is just a wee little guy. Hopeful he takes off in the spring when I set all of my orchids outside. I want blooms so badly.
