My new orchids. Let me show you them.

Gotta love flea markets. Yep, I was wandering around when I saw a man carrying a gorgeous oncidium. I asked him where he got it, and he pointed me in the direction of the most gorgeous orchid booth I'd ever seen. I'm talking about cattleyas bigger than my head and the most gorgeous bare-root vandas and masses of tiny oncidium flowers you've ever seen. There were two Paphs, one with HUGE flowers, and another who's flower had just fallen off, making the price go from $25 to $10. I looked at the flower, that resembled a stealth, but the tag said Paph. Red Shift x Paph. Laser. I had to have it. I also picked out a budding Vanda Pachara Delight, an orchid I've always wanted. Sooo... Check 'em out!


This orchids makes my hobby a collection.

I wasn't sure what this growth was. I know paphs spike from the top, but this looks like a spike.

Probably new growth, which is a good thing. Paphs also put out new "plants" from their base. That's how I think of it anyway. I'm sure there's a much more technical and accurate description.

Where do you live where your flea markets have orchids?! I live in the worst place to find orchid growers

Oh wow! Those are really beautiful plants! The roots on that vanda are magnificent, plus its going to bloom. You can't get any better than that.

Your paph is getting a new growth too so it has obviously been loved before you bought it. I wish I had an orchid booth around me. I'm so jealous!

It was Wagon Wheel Flea Market in Pinellas Park Florida, they have some other orchid vendors there, but their selection was tiny and unhealthy.

Thank you! Believe it or not, some vandas there had even more roots! The one I picked was the healthiest, though.

The lady running the booth obviously loved orchids, and she seemed to be taking really good care of hers. And to top it off the prices were great.

And I will of course! I just checked on it and the biggest one is showing signs it will open in the next day or two. I'm sure your collection is great too.

Nice find, flea markets around here don't have orchids, its like pulling hens teeth to find named orchids around here.
