Thanks!

But don't think that I revolve my world on orchids....I have a good quality of life with my friends and family in accordance to my profession and a civilized Urban living.

My collection is at 18 currently , all resting nicely under a 400MH bulb with timer set for 14 hrs on . but since hydro rates are rising i have resorted to running mine from 7 pm to 9am . overnights . Kinda like shift workers , I dont have much of a strategy , its kind of like an addiction , just wondering and looking for my next to add to my collec. I am searching for another phaph ...Paph. palawanense 'Si
but having no luck locating it , other than taking a chance ordering from china , and arriving in a cold climate currently is what i am pondering now .

Well, I have a strategy--sort of.....

I do buy what I like, and try to leave room for in impulse purchase here and there. Sometimes you find something and it's just too gorgeous to pass up (grin).....I also have a "wish list" of things I'd like to try that I'm either waiting to find or waiting for the price to come down (my list is a lot shorter since Andy's Cyber Monday sale, lol).

When I look at orchids, I first look at whether it it likely to grow in my conditions. The second consideration is bloom and fragrance (and if it's not fragrant I probably won't get it). The third consideration is space--where will I put it???? Of course, since I discovered grow lights and am no longer limited to windowsills that's not as much of an issue....

I think the thing to remember is that for most of us this is a hobby and it should be something we enjoy. With that in mind, buy plants that you like and that will grow for you without making you either rip your hair out or go grey from the stress.
