Over 2500 orchid species, and I was able to bask in the glory.
Went to my first orchid greenhouse today. Was traveling south, back to Charleston, and stopped in Raleigh, NC. Couldn't resist visiting one of the many orchid greenhouses down there.
ENjoy the pics! This was only a fraction of the plants they had in bloom
Of course I may have brought home some new babies too

The display room is pretty cool isn't it? I'm about 20 minutes away, so it's nice to be able to swing by on the weekend and take a quick tour.

I'm jealous you live so close. There are no greenhouses near me that have this kind of inventory. Granted, they are just general plant-type greenhouses. Usually they only have phalaenopsis and a few paphs. This was the first to actually specialize in orchids.

Yeah, I feel pretty lucky. So many wonderful greenhouses specializing in orchids have closed down in the past 10 or so years...across the country and here in N.C.
The Orchid Trail is a nice place, whenever I see someone looking for a particular plant that I know OT has, I always recommend them.

I just went around snapping pictures like mad. The smart thing would have been to get the tag in the picture too, oops. So, unfortunately I don't know any of the names of these guys.
The only one I know the name of is the last one, and that's because I got one for myself. It is dendrobium alexandrae x den. hendersonii
The other 2 I got are:
Phrag. hirtzii x besseae v. flavum
Bulbophyllum worayuth white fang

The many, you say? What's Raleigh like to live there, any idea?
