Paphiopedilum in s/h and new leaves keep dying

hi all, so in summary my paph woluwense is in semi/hydro because when i first got it it had 3 roots and now it has 6 good ones. But the new leaves keep turning brown and rotting away, please help me.

The second pic almost looks like the beginning of rot. You may have the plant too deep into the leca. Try planting it so the highest root is just covered. It also looks real wet, you may have just watered but that could also cause the rotting. The upper leaves don't look too bad in the pics.
I was having an issue a while back with leaves starting to fade to yellow and then browning out. I lowered my fertilizer to 30 PPM(also using Klite) and that seems to have corrected my problem.

thanks Bill, i think i did plant it too deep in the leca but the last time i planted it quite high the roots dried and died off.

my main concern is that the new leaves keep dying because i'm planting it too deep. but if i don't plant it deep enough the roots will start to dry and die off and i'm not sure how deep i should plant it.

It's best to plant it so the base(where the leaves start) is even with the top of the mix. Any roots sticking out above that you can try to gently force downward but I wouldn't worry too much about them. They will either find their way into the mix or not. I thought Orchidweb had a video showing a paph repot but I couldn't find it.

I think you may be harboring a fungal infection. Take a trip to the chemist and buy a few of bottles of 3% hydrogen peroxide, and use that for watering for the next few times.

i wiped of the white marks with a wet cotton covered in cinnamon and the white marks came off

I don't believe in cinnamon. I know it has anti-fungal property in its oil, but I believe the information got spread too fast and people just put powered cinnamon on anything they have problem with.
At best, it is just the drying up of cut ending as any power would do.

Anyways, regarding the repotting, since yours is in S/H, I would fill up the clayballs just up to the beginning of the roots but not touching the base of the plant leaves.
Then dress the top of clayballs with wet moss and keep this moss moist by frequent misting, especially when you see new roots are coming out from the base of the plant.

Paphs root tend to dry out and stop growing when there is nothing moist to "grab" onto.

By the way, I don't think I see the dying leaves other than one smallest leaf that is dead and dark in color. I see some brown marks though.

How does the leaf die? one at a time? does it turn brown from the tip or from the base? or neither?
Do you have any better picture showing how the leaf dies as I don't see much in these pictures?

Cinnamon powder is great for crown rot in phals, as it dries out the rotting tissue and protects it from further infection, but it should never be applied anywhere near roots, as it will dry them out, as well.

I agree that the plant looks like it may have been potted too deeply.

You may safely water normally (fill the pot rapidly to the top and let it drain) with 3% H2O2. It will decompose into oxygen and plain water almost instantly.
