Psychopsis flower
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving!
My Psychopsis Mendenhall 'Hildos' opened its flower on Tues. I like the "Alien".
My Paph. fairrieanum has a bud, but it is so tiny. It's a first blooming. I wonder if the bud will get bigger. I can't believe it will develop into a fully formed flower. Time will tell, I just have to be patient.

Yeah, this one is awesome, I have to get one of these next year! I heard they do bloom from the same spike over and over again?

Lovely blooms! I have a 'hildos' but it is still a few years from blooming. I bought it as a tiny seedling for the pretty leaves and have been enjoying watching it grow. Nice to be reminded of how the blooms will look someday!

Yes, they do... if they are taken care of! Some spikes have been known to last up to 10 years.

So true! I have one that has had a spike since I got it over five years ago, it has a flower right now.

So how many flowers do you think that has had then? Sometimes you can count the alternating sheaths left behind. Just curious, if you happen to know!

I counted around 15, it had a spike when I bought it, but it didn't start flowering for me until I put it into a cedar basket. Now I have two spikes constantly in flower.

I've got one in spike and when moving things around I broke off the growing tip!
Luckily it is now branching and will hopefully flower soon, but I set it back at least a month or two.
