I am going to have to put my therm with the humidifier in there to see what it is. I have saucers with stones for humidity but I think I will get a tray to use in there. I have gotten ones with the grates for the living room and they make one that is only 6 inches wide and I think 36 inches long and it will fit in that window. I kind of like the trays better than the rocks.

I need to do more studying on them to see what else they need. Not sure about the mounts I like the look but can they do ok in a pot.

I was over fertilizing mine at first, not realizing that they need very little feeding. They also like more light than I would have thought, so the first year I had them they were spindly with only a few flowers. This year I'm hoping for better bloom, now that I have adjusted light and fertilizer.

Water more fert less, sounds like my Phrag. I have to stop myself from fertilizing it more. I have always lived by the motto more is better. But I just love these orchids.

That's what I found with my phrag too! I keep wondering if it would be worth trying my masd in s/h, because that is what works best for the phrag.

I will try not to I have done my fair share of killing them but mostly do to neglect. But I also like to give them a poke every day I think they are like my dogs they like petted

I just don't want to get anything at least for a bit that is to hard to deal with. I'm still trying not to panic having my phrag setting in water. Goes against all my in-stinks.

If your natural low is 45, I wouldn't worry about ice in winter. Maybe even some heating (I try to grow mine above 50-55). The important part is to give them some rest / relief from high stress heat in summer. Try and keep your temps below 80. Basements work well I've heard.

In Seattle, temps rarely go above 80 so I don't really have to worry too much in my greenhouse. When temps gets that high, I turn the sprinkler on in my greenhouse midday, and keep the doors open. And in summers, even on 90 degree days (maybe 5 of those per year) - the nighttime temps drop below 70. Don't fertilize in hot weather.

Well i also have a basement but I wilt if I let my house get to 80 degrees. It will get that in my living room when the sun is shinning but not in the kitchen where I would like these little ones to grow.

I have a swamp cooler in the summer that goes in when the temp outside gets in the 80's. Did I mention I don't like the heat much That thing goes on in the morning when it starts get around 75.
