I was a beginner not to long ago say (July). I have tried many different fertilizers/Bloom boosters (Don't like those anymore nor use them anymore). Through some really awesome members on this board I found out what one of my favorite vendors use a type of fertilizer that is not actually even for orchids and I am no longer seeing burned leaves. I have also seen great growth in using the seaweed extract (again thanks to the board members).
But I am finally FINALLY seeing some GREAT results with the help of this board. I really am happy to say I am finding out even what plants I like.
I honestly do not like phal's, and paph's are quickly making my black list (Not sure what it is but we are just not getting along). But they are soo super pretty otherwise.
But I do like my Grammatophylum, Bulbophyllums (just not the ones who smell like decay
). and Catasetum are rapidly becoming my all time favorites. ESPECIALLY the really odd looking ones. I like the oncidiums and the twinkles because they are so cute.
I even got some spikes and new baby growths. Hurray!!
Pictures are as follows
1. Vanda root and leaves growth post burns due to sun directional change.
2. B. Nodosa Little Star *Lady of the Night* in spike 2 months after blooming before coming to me.
3. Catasetum Tenabarosum(Sp)- is growing a new growth.
4. Bulbophyllum Frank Smith- Is growing new roots and has a new growth that is growing like crazy. Even though before I got it 2 months ago it was stuck in a box for 5 days.
5. Cattasetum Saccatum Lita- the mother plant is still in full grow mode, but the baby growth has a baby growing on it!!! I am praying it will take because I don't think I can handle such a fabulous plant dying...
6. Dendrobium Nobile type-I have almost thrown this away so many stinking times it is not even funny. BUT I am finally seeing a new growth coming off of it. so here goes round....O dear God I have lost count I have fought this sucker so many times.
I also for those who may understand, had a tiny tornado intermittently come through my home. He took all the tags out of my plants in the beginning and then broke off a growth on my catasetum Frilly Doris. BUT I will survive this. lol.
Thanks again to everyone who has helped me see these guys come to fruitation!!! I am so appreciative.
