Default Oncidium continues growing pseudobulbs in November

Hi everybody,

I am new to this forum, and hope that somebody could give me some advice :-) I have had an oncidium for about 2 years, and nearly killed it by overwatering the first 16 months (the pictures show the wrinkled leaves). I repotted early this year, and it has recovered really well in the 9 months since: lots of aerial roots, and about 4 new pseudobulbs with strong root growth since spring. This morning I noticed to my surprise that another 2 pseudobulbs have formed. It being November I would have thought that it would stop growing and start spiking (if it had recovered enough). Are these new pseudobulbs out of season a good sign it is recovering well? I live in NYC so winter is just around the corner... I have attached some pictures of some pseudobulbs with roots that appeared earlier this summer (photos 2 and 3), and also the new pseudobulb I discovered this morning (photo 1).

Thanks a lot for your advice!

Welcome to OB. My Oncidiums are growing pbulbs and one has 2 nice size spikes on it, I don't think its any thing to worry about when there ready to bloom they will, I find mine have a mind of their own and bloom when they want, I'm sure some one will come along and give you more help.

Generally, oncidiums do not have rest period. They just grow year around and bloom when the new pbs are mature.
Blooms can happen more than twice a year on certain varieties, while many bloom just once a year.
