Well, at least that one was a hardware store find, so I'm not out a ton of money on it. I'm sad that I lost it though. It's what made me fall in love with oncidiums. I'll probably always have a couple around here.

Hopefully, you will see another one soon. Remember that some of the big box hardware stores have a one-year warranty for their orchids.

Good to know! Next time, I'll check and make sure before I make a purchase!
Thanks!

Sorry about the loss, but Sharry Baby is very easily replaceable if that's any consolation.
I'm sure you will come across another Sharry Baby.
You might want to look for other fragrant oncidums that are smaller than Sharry Baby.
I have a Heaven Scent 'Redolence' looks and smells very similar to SB, with smaller plant and much much more compact spike habit.
Rosie Sunset is all pink (light pink) fragrant oncidium and that one is even smaller.
Then there are oncidium twinkle, which is probably th smallest, but very cute, abundant flowers, highly perfumed.

Funny you should mention rosy sunset. I picked one up at TJ's last week! I haven't decided what I think it smells like. Maybe citrus? I'm not sure, it's a cute little thing though!

Isn't that funny, right?
Did you get a good one? I have seen them in different sizes. A well grown large plants with multiple spikes loaded with flowers under the sun light is quite something!
I don't recall any citrus in them. More like vanilla, or cookie dough smell.
I have bought many times, but all of them developed this strange yellow rings on the leaves. so I tossed them. haven't seen that plant anywhere since last year. I know I will buy again if I saw one in bloom. lol
Heaven Scent is very common at my TJ in the fall and winter.

This one's pretty small. I'd say the whole plant is less than a foot tall. The spikes are just over a foot tall. The pbulbs are very smooth, no wrinkles at all, and they look evenly colored. I do think this one's gotten a little less light than it should probably have as the leaves are a darker green than on my other oncidiums. The roots are very fine, but look nice and healthy through the pot. It's potted in spagh, I was planning to repot in bark. I usually pot oncidiums in a medium bark, but the roots on this one are so small, I was thinking a phal bark might be more suitable.
This one is Oncidium Rosy Sunset 'Pacific Satin' so it might be a hybrid with something else.. it's definitely not a cookie dough or vanilla smell, there's something sharper to it. I'll get a pic and post it.

Pacific Satin is the one I bought over and over.
Yours is on the small side.
By the way, mine all had dark leaves and flower count was very high, so the deep green is just about normal I think.
Heaven Scent also has very dark green, slightly deeper than the common yellow dancing lady.
I think my Sharry baby had lighter green than any of these mentioned.

Hrm, I wonder why the scent seems almost pungent to me and more like vanilla to you. That's interesting!
I'm glad to know the darker green is normal for this one. My other oncidiums have almost apple green leaves, so I was planning to move it after I repot it.
I like that this plant is more compact.
