Should I wait until spring to repot?

I rescued it, because this is the oncidium today. That little growth from my original post is now this huge pbulb with leggy roots shooting out everywhere.

Do I get a rhizome clip for this thing? The roots are so delicate and it is sending them back into the media that I'm afraid to repot. I accidentally broke off a root when I was inspecting it the other day.

It used to stand upright as you can see in my OP, but now it is leaning over from all the weight of the new pbulb. I don't want it to fall over and ruin all the hard work it has put forth.

The new root tips are usually delicate so, unless I am using NZ sphagnum moss, I usually just leave the new roots exposed when I re-pot. When the roots have buried themselves into the medium, I gently put some new medium around the exposed part of the roots. I don't like to take chances with the delicate root tips as I know how easy they are to damage.
