Hello Ramon,
I was born in Trier and grew up in Bad Kreuznach which is about 1.5 hours South-West of Frankfurt.

Be sure and post pictures of the show, and what followed you home.
We loooove pictures!

How many orchids do you have so far? What kind of growing conditions do you have? (lights, windows, greenhouse, etc.)

Have fun at the Northwest Orchid show.
Hi Chris,
I will be happy to take pictures at the show!!

Right now I have sixteen Orchids. Most of them are growing in a large south-facing window which is receiving dappeled shade from a big evergeen right around 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
They pretty much seem to like it. Several have rebloomed for me in the short amount of time that I have had them.
However, I do have to admit that I have been sticking with Cattleyas, Dendrobiums and Phalaenopsis. Nothing that needs very specialized conditions.

Something that I am hoping to find at the show is a Dendrobium farmeri. A few weeks ago I saw some pictures posted of one here on the board and I instantly fell in love!!
Let's see what else I "fall in love" with at the show

No Ramon, that would be too much of a conincidence!
Guten Morgen (good morning) right back at ya!
I took a look at your pictures, very, very beautiful! Love the set-up for your plants. I was thinking about doing something similar for an area in my living room.

Where in the orchid world do you live? Male
Question

Ramon, You have quite a collection of orchids - very impressive. The plant stand on the last page of your picture gallery is similar to what I have been looking for. Did you design that yourself or a prefab unit? I need to add artifical lighting to my orchids, but want something that will not look to obstructive in my living room. So far the best I have come up with are PVC pipe plans. I also need something that I can dismantle and move without much trouble.

you are right, that would have been too much coincidence Petra Krausser did her PhD with me in Heidelberg. She was born in Trier, grew up next to Bad Kreuznach, and the last time I heard of her, she had gotten a position at the Missouri Botanical Garden...

Hi John, the plant stand was partially made by myself. I bought some shelves from IKEA and added all the rest to be able to put the lamps. My collection is now a bit larger than at that point, so I had to update the stand, and now is a bug "green wall"... I have to take some pictures of it and post them here... but that only after installing the new misting system I just received today

Now wait just a minute! A misting system in your living room? Won't that make everything "wet"? I can't wait to see how you do this as I would add one in a minute if I could figure the wetness out.
