I live on the South East coast of Florida about 15 miles north of Ft. Lauderdale. I tried to bring some of our warm and sunny weather to Philadelphia last weekend but Old Man Winter still wanted to keep the a/c on up there. I just won a cybidium at our meeting last week and it is supposed to be a warmer loving type. Add that one to my collection now of catts, phals, zygos, schoms, & paths.

Thanks for the info.
P.S. So as to avoid a complete I live in orchid paradise, aka Hawaii!!

If the Catasetum is green, it will be viridiflavum in that area. If purplish-spotted, macrantha. Coulr=d be a Cycnoches if it's from a drier area. The Brassavola is probably nodosa. They get pretty big in nature and are the most salt-tolerant.

Thanks for the info! I had a feeling it might be viridiflavum and nodosa was my first instinct for the Brassavola. Hopefully it will bloom this fall and I will post pics.

I'm from Lyon, France which is the northern border of southern france. Hot summers, cold-ish winters and lots of sun most of the year. Lack of rain is starting to be a problem the last few years.

I live and raise my orchids in Terrebonne, Oregon. We live at Crooked River Ranch down in the Deshutes River Canyon in the High Desert of Central Oregon. It was warm and sunny today.

Hi, I live in Durban, South Africa very close to the beach. Hot, humid and plenty of sunshine. I grow my orchids in a shade house.

It amazes me how many young folks grow orchids in the USA. Most of our members are between 50 and 85

Hi Des, You are so right, it's amazing. I must add that one of our judges at the NOC is quite a joung guy, so let's hope the younger people will wake up and start growing Orchids!
