You know you are busy and tired when you do not realize your bulbo frank smith has shot a new leaf and its growth has tripled in size since you last noticed..

No your not alone. Not two seconds after reading your post I notice this....
My phal amabilis is not only sending up two spikes, but one of them is close to 8inches long.
When did that happen?
Worse yet, it's in the kitchen. Behind the sink... where I see it everyday.
I am pretty much surprised every day with something new, that I can not believe I have not seen before, but with so many orchids I guess it is kinda normal:-)
My spikes always seem to appear overnight...because I never notice them until they are quite developed. It certainly eliminates that forever wait for blooms.
Just checked on a Dendrobium that I stuck in my orchid tree and pretty much ignored. One of the canes now measures 1.1 metres in length. That's 3 foot 7 inch. I'm sure it wasn't that big last time I looked, whenever that was...
