what should seeds look like at 3 weeks in the agar jars
please can someone tell me what the seeds look like at 3 weeks as mine don't seem to be doing much. when I put them in there jars I put clingfilm around the lids, put the jars in a sealed clear bag with a bleach solution and put those in a heated propergation unit. I cant see much happening... what should happen at 3 weeks and what should they look like, thanks
It depends a lot on the genus and the characteristics of the specific parents used. Some germinate rapidly, others take longer - I had a paph cross take over 6 months to germinate.
the answer to your question is yes, I need them in the incubator for the warmth, they have just started sprouting, I noticed them today there are loads of seeds with tails all over the jar, I think the warmth has helped, I think with being in the uk its a cold time of year and the gentle warmth of the underneath I personally think has gave them a boost, thanks everyone for your questions and answers, im really happy that they are coming on.
Ah, OK. Yes would be helpful in cold climate. Just remember to let the temperature down gradually when taking them out otherwise you will cause a subtle change in pressure that may suck in contaminants.
