I ordered this plant from Larrrys Orchids It is a small little guy but it has 2 growths!! 2!! Hurray!!

I noticed that the plants leaves look a lot like that of catasetum...is that the family these plants belong in.

If you are not familiar with the technical name it is also called a "Nun Orchid". I will be following the planting guide for this of soil/perlite mix which it was already in. HOWEVER! The guidelines also suggest repotting using peat moss...is there a better alternative for this. Everywhere that carries potting soil has already pulled their small bags of peat moss.

Attached is the picture of the flower that the seller uses. I will post pictures later of my little guy once he is through soaking.

Thanks in Advance!!

I keep my fingers crossed that your plant grows well into a strong flowering one. I think it needs 1-2 more years.
And speaking botanically both belong to the family Orchidaceae. Tribus and subtribus are different. Catasetinae interbreed with certain genera of the Cymbidium alliance, but not with Phaius or Calanthe (here in Miscellaneous and other Genera).
But both form pbulbs and have deciduous foliage, both undergo a rest period. I grow them side by side.

Post potting. I used some old miracle grow I have added chipped lava rock and perlite. I placed a chunk of lava rock in the middle of the plant root mass to make sure that the roots were able to breathe. The soil is lightly placed around the roots but solid enouth 4 it to not need anything to hold it up. I placed lava rock on top forr stability and to help keep the soil in.
