Sunburn on catt seedling? - Orchid Board

Is this sunburn on my Catt baby? it came up very suddenly I did have my pots rearranged for a day while I was cleaning and it may have gotten some direct sun for too long. the other thing I was thinking is that I sprayed some nearby plants with fungus gnat killer and it may have gotten on the leaf? there are a few small spot on the big leaf but the one you can see in the picture is most affected.

Yes, looks like it could be sunburn.

I did the same with a potinara not long ago. I did give it a bit of direct sunlight, thinking it's a cattleya alliance and can deal with it, but apparently it was a bit too much and now it's got ugly spots.

At least it does not kill the plant. That's something.

yes id prefer sunburn to any sort of disease even if it is ugly. I'm a little distraught over it lol

Sunburn, my baby baby seedlings leaves turned white.....due to sun position. changes with season change.

off topic: media looks dry, do you know what is in pot under CHC and perlite? John use a lot of stones.

its perlite and coconut coir. I haven't looked underneath but i would say its far to light to have stone. I took this picture first thing in the am after the fans had been on all night so they were due for a spray. I was told to let the media dry between watering also. The leaves still feel firm and healthy.

I don't like the looks of the sunken parts where it is brown. Watch these areas closely and if they continue to spread, cut that leaf off at it's base. If it progresses to the pbulb then cut it off too and dab on some cinnamon to the cut wound. Hopefully it is not soft brown rot. Go to St. Augustine Orchid Society - North Florida Orchid Growing and look at their info on orchid diseases.

Thanks James! great site lots of info. Its getting bookmarked. My little orchid hasn't changed much since its initial sunburn on Saturday. I am pretty sure that's what is what it is now as nothing has changed and the plant leaf still feels healthy. They are back to there original spot near the window but shaded by some other plants. I'll post any changes but so far so good. Thanks for all the info!
