Hello
My Phal bloomed for the first time since I bought it (a couple years ago) this spring at my mothers house (she was plant sitting while I worked away all summer). after it was done flowering she cut it to the next node and it started to produce another bud then stopped with the undeveloped bud "frozen" in place. The plants have since come back to my house for the winter. They like it more here and tend to stall at my moms. its been a couple months at least with no visible growth(or decay) on the flower spike the the plant is now producing a new leaf will it ever flower or should I cut the growth spike and let it put energy into new leaves? Thanks!
That's a great question. My daughter has a phal that is doing exactly the same thing and we've left the spike in tact for now. I would love to see the responses you get!
it's in a plastic orchid pot on a humidity tray well ventilated it lives with all my other plants shortly after I got it home it had some new root growth and today I noticed the new leaf coming. trying to get some pics uploaded. When i went to take pics i noticed the other orchid who had seemed to be suffering from the same issue but had hardly started putting out a new flowering branch, has started growing again also the node underneath is developing. pics to come!
pic of the "stalled" (for lack of a better term) orchid. you can see the new leaf starting its roots are healthy with new growth. just the flowerspike won't do a thing. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...1&d=1382643386
All the roots I can see look healthy so if you want to just wait it may bloom again. If you moved it from your mom's to your house it just may be adjusting to the new conditions
