Hi, I have a unhealthy Miltoniopsis that i really would like to save.
Had too cut off all roots! after i cut off the roots i planted it in 50/50 sphagnum and perlite. Not sure if this is a good solution for my plant..
Maybe sphag & bag wold be more effective?
I haven't had a lot of luck with sphag and bag. I usually grow mostly mold with this method. Personally, I would try a seaweed treatment and try to secure it on top of some medium (wire it , whatever is necessary). I have noticed that the Miltoniopsis don't like their roots to be disturbed much so if it rocks in the pot you might have some set backs. I would also do all I could to make sure it's growing area stays humid ( humidity trays etc..) and you'll probably need to mist the top of the pot ocassionally too.
I'd try one treatment at a time. Start with the seaweed and maybe use bark media. It depends on where you are growing. I'm in Ohio and for some reason sphag is pretty much a death sentence for any orchid in my enviroment. lol!
