The move
Well in preparation for moving into my motorhome I built a new GH at my folks house. It's nothing to brag about believe me but it will get the job done. I won't be able to be as attentive or just dash out and take pics to illustrate a technique or idea but at least I can keep my orchids. Or I might just sell them all anyway. But here's the new digs. Some stuff yet to do but they will be nice a warm. And here's a couple new blooms. This cost me all of $100. The first is where it stood for 3 years and the next is where it is now. The last is an Epidendrum Ciliare which my dad look off a tree in Panama in 1949 when transiting the canal in the Navy. The yellow green is Green Emerald Ching Hua. The others are noids. But they smell great. The Epi is fragrant at night. It is really fragrant at night. Can smell it all the way to the upper house.

Thats great!! (on both counts) You get to keep all your orchids, and that greenhouse only costing around a $100 bucks!? Yippee!
..... I need you to come help me build one of these lovely greenhouses in my backyard! .. I'll supply you with all the beer you can drink! Although... ...maybe after the build, not during...

Good job with the new greenhouse. The orchids look happy. Love that Green Emerald lip. Hope you get to keep the 'chids. Best of luck in your move.

Many of the orchids have come a long way from where they were when I got them. They are finally growing into what God intended them to be and putting out flowers. Most have new growth pushing and that will be flowers next season so I didn't want them to be in a less that ideal place through the winter. They usually go through winter here with around 40*f at night and 60*f during the day. I keep them on the dry side to limit fungal problems. I have a bunch of brick to put down on the dirt floor and a fan for the doorway overhead to keep the air moving briskly. Hopefully it will get my elderly mom out of her sewing room and outside in the fresh air. She loves flowers and plants. More to come from this little habitat.
