Yellow, dying leaf. I think it's rotting :(
My phal was doing pretty good when I first got it, but I think it may be rotting now.
I hope it isn't too late, as it is SUPER close to my heart. I plan on repotting it as soon as the materials come in the mail... any suggestions at all? I'm so upset!

Remove it from the pot and potting media and allow it to air dry bare root for a couple of days.. Cut any brown or mushy roots with a sterile cutting tool (just douse it with rubbing alcohol before use) and then repot.

I see a lot of good roots in the pot--it could be that the dying leaf is just an old leaf. It is the bottom leaf, and they will yellow and drop with time. It does look like it needs a repot, but a yellow bottom leaf doesn't necessarily mean it is rotting. Good luck!

I would agree with Judi, there is so many nice healthy green roots, and leaves, and the bottom one is either old one or there may have been maybe some water stared on the bottom making that leave to die. Other than that it looks like pretty healthy Phal!

phals will lose bottom leaves like that. I just pluck em off and move on. I see some who leave em till they turn to mush. Im not one of those thank you that wants to invite disease into my home...BUT
I had 3 elder bobs come to my door today and ask me if I would invite Jesus into my home. I said sure Jesus can come in but you guys have to stay outside..

Phals store nutrients and water in their leaves and roots. This is most likely just one that has used up the nutrients and is being cast off. I would take it out of the pot, clean off all that sphagnum moss, place it roots down in a glass jar with a little water in the bottom while waiting for your potting material to come.

That's a good idea, I will do that right now.
I hope it IS just shedding the leaf. The other ones aren't yellow, that's a good sign, right?
Thanks everyone
