I was thinking stolen too... :-/
They'll pay for it later I'm sure. You know what they say about kharma...
(I don't actually believe in that, but there are consequences for everything we do).

Keep your hopes up. I have had orchids survive a month in transit without the plant dying. it happened when I ordered a Catt amethysoglossum and it got delayed, and I had to come to NYC because of hurricane sandy. I came back home and the plant was in good condition. Anything with pbulbs might make it, and since they are in the dark they don't lose too much water. Plus species from Thailand might be ready for a winters rest about now anyways(maybe not the bulbos) but if they were healthy to begin with they might do fine.

I hope there was some insurance however I did ask seller twice already and no reply to it. Karma is a Bia... as they say, and I believe in it, what comes around goes around, it makes me feel maybe little better, but not great. This was by far my biggest order, and long time choosing, communicating, some payment problems, it took weeks to sort it out, and than I had to wait month before seller took it to agriculture, get certifications and ship. And the most sad part is, after all that, it reaches USA, and clears without the blink of eye, and then vanishes here, in Miami, blogs away from me:-( And you know what, this is the first time ever package from Asia actually came and clear directly in Miami, strange, all packages before (non orchid ones) came always up north, New York (Jamaica customs), or Chicago, or even Cleveland, but I have never package from Asia that flew direct to Miami and cleared customs here, strange! God I wish I wake up tomorrow and by some miracle package is at the post office, I will have another sleepless night :-(

Thanks Kevin, at this time I am starting to be more worried about getting that package ever, if there is no package found tomorrow, I bet it was stolen:-( Well, it is really out of my hands, nothing more I can do than wait and go to the post office again, and hope.

Question for you:
You state that it cleared customs, but do you know that it left customs and made it through the APHIS inspection?
Could the idiots in Washington DC, forcing the shutdown of government agencies, have left your package in limbo, and the USPS hasn't even gotten it back yet?

Not being learned in the ways of APHIS it's hard for me to tell from their shutdown plan document whether this function continues during the shutdown. Their website refers to the contingency plans page, which includes this:

Thanks everyone. Package cleared everything that was needed, that is actually confirmed, it was already in the sorting USPS facility, and it was scanned as leaving to my local post office, that means, it was just suppose to be loaded on the track and make some 20 minutes trip to my post office for my postman to grab it and deliver. Unfortunately after it did scan in the USPS sorting as leaving, it vanished. After many phone calls, visits at post office and help from "friendly" people we do know working in our post office I got the phone call just few hours ago from main supervisor that it seems package was FOUND, in that sorting facility, and it will be delivered tomorrow (we can only hope). So, I will be like on needles waiting tomorrow if this become true or not!
