How long has the keiki been there? It can take a few months, in my experience.

Earlier in this thread I posted a pic of when it was just starting out and that was back in October. There is absolutely no sign of any roots even possibly emerging anywhere from keiki. The most recent pic I posted was just taken last night.

So still no roots from the keiki but the main plant is throwing out a spike...

I'm jealous...I really want a keiki!! Seen people say it can take several months, so sit tight. If there's one thing orchid keeping teaches us, it's patience, eh?

I love the way a keiki looks when it's left on the mother plant and they're both blooming.

Spikes are the reason I got addicted to orchids. When I orchid spiked for me the first time I was hooked. It is such a good feeling when your plant blooms for you.

Thanks! This keiki started over a year ago! It just keeps growing, the mother plant keeps growing too. It's exciting!

Thank you! I have three other orchids with spikes starting now too. One of them even has two spikes coming out. I still get excited over spikes. I get excited over any new growth lol. Roots, leafs, makes me happy to see any of it. :-)

I'm reviving this thread again, lol. I figure it's better than starting a new one. Here's a pic of my plant with the keiki as of now. Still no sign of roots from the keiki. The plant is doing great though!

Thanks! I seem to mostly have good luck with phals. I have a den phal hybrid that I can't get to spike and a cattleya that also doesn't seem to want to do much.
