Default Rats my Scaphaglottis (sp?) bud blasted...

Well rats I am so sad, it was doing so well and made it all the way over here from Puerto Rico and it has decided to bud blast....But here is the question what to do to the spike? This is my first run with these and I am not sure what to do....heres a picture of it...sorry on ipad and they do not have flash....

Also it has seemingly lost all roots, it is in a rock chip/hydroton/orchid moss mix, never allowed to dry, bright indirect light, In my window with the window open good airflow...has two baby roots and what looks to be a possible new growth and has a new growth as well....So what am I doing wrong.

Spathoglottis plicata. Maybe try less water. The new growth looks fine. If the tip of the spike is dead you can cut it off. How r the rest doing?
