Default First zygo!

Went to trader does to see if they had anything different and found this. It looks sad though I'm thinking because it was bone dry when I got it home. But I've been wanting one of these for months so I picked it up. And I'm happy ha this one pits me at 7 collections growing slowly but surely and in the last picture is that a spike coming up?

That would be spike number 3 ha how often do these bloom. I haven't done much research on them aside from the basic care

it looks as if you have a zygonisia, maybe var Maui Melody.
These bloom from every new growth, at least 2x per year.
They are not as scented as zygopetalum hybrids, well mine aren't and I have quite a few.
As always the proviso is that orchids bloom if you meet their cultural requirements.
Zyogonisia are a hybrid of zygopetalum and aganisia.

Very lovely! As for how often it will bloom, it depends on how often it puts out new growths. I had a zygo that put out new growths four times a year and bloomed on each growth. Unfortunately, it was barely fragrant and I collect fragrant orchids.

Great buy! I have this one and like it a lot!!!
On the other note, I just came back from California and I must say I am in deep shock, after visiting Trader Joe's for the very first time. There were no interesting orchids in the one I went (Huntington Beach), but the food prices are just absolutely ridiculous, I mean, it is SO SO SO CHEAP that I am kinda hating Florida even more now (50-70% cheaper than in any grocery store in Florida!) Trader Joe's would absolutely kill all the whole foods and publixes and other crab we have here. I am so jealous! BUT, the traffic around LA killed it for me, horrific, would never live there!

I notice that prices out of Chicagoland are so expensive too - especially in most of the Southern states. However, instead of the traffic, we have the lousy cold weather. We would move to California in a flash - bring on proper public transport to make the difference there.
