Awww... you can come stay with me in NC. We have a couple of Trader Joes within easy range. And the winters are sooo much tamer.

It is weird, though. I don't even think there is one in Pittsburgh. I will have to check out their website.

There is one in the Cleveland area...a little far but I find this encouraging. Hopefully they will build one closer.

once Whole Foods moved into our area everything got cheaper and quality is better too. Now a major Walmart is opening by end Dec- one with organic foods etc and that will also reduce prices. Jewel-Osco has improved noticeably. Competition works !
The only thing that happened in the Orchid World is that hybrids are dirt-cheap, though unnamed, but species are much more expensive. Our Trader Joe has very few orchids for sale.

I guess Trader Joe's carries different orchids in different locations, which is fine. There is suppose to be one opening sometimes soon in south Miami, far from my condo, BUT with the prices like this, I will definitely drive there once a month for groceries, I mean, we are talking about savings of 50-70%. I know this does not belong to this forum probably, but example - mozzarella burrata in TJ $4.95, in our Publix $11.99, 1LBS pistachios in TJ $5.99, in our Publix $9.99, one cauliflower (organic) in TJ $1.79, in our Publix (regular) $3.99, and last, Bananas in TJ $0.19/pound in our stupid Publix $0.69 cheapest! And I can go on and on! So, grocery shopping in TJ and if there are some awesome cheaper orchids, THEY {AY FOR THEMSELVES with this savings!

I don't know if you know a store called Aldi's, but they are dirt cheap too ( at least here ) and in addition periodically have German-made goodies. I say that as I eat a marzipan stollen bite from Aldi's.

You may know them - I see that they are in Miami.

I know Aldi's from good old Europe, we had them everywhere, but none of course in Florida. Here, only win dixie, publix, whole foods and fresh market. Ohh yeah, walmart that I never shop in, we do not support companies that treat employees like they do:-) So can't wait for TJ to open, even when far away:-)
