My pinkish one is slow to bloom, too tall with small flowers.
The nursery lady (we're actually pretty good friends and share a coffee and everyday frustrations and joy now and then) says that she thinks our epidendrums are pink. As I understand it, dark cerise red/pink.

And from what I've seen on pictures these spikes can be ridiculously long on some of them, so if I'm unlucky it's going to take this plant forever to stretch to a point where it decides to actually bloom.

Gosh, I hope it's a compact one!

Oh, and I hope I'll be able to show them to you. I'll lie down and cry if they blast.

Oh, I know the feeling... But I don't want you to cry! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed! But, I'm sure that this indestructible plant has to be tough enough to get some flowers out!! I just feel it!! Yep yep!

Relax, this orchid rarely blast its blooms....not unless some bugs sucked on its buds while still unopened and got to the nectars....otherwise it is a very sturdy plant.

Congrats on the spike! These are nice long blooming plants and you will be justly rewarded.

I bought a bright pink one in Feb. and it has never stopped blooming. It doesn't get much attention and just sits on a shelf in the greenhouse.

Can't wait to see your blooms.

Lets see how long that will take. The spike is actually quite fast-growing so far, but then, these are quite vigorous plants and depsite not flowering for years and years they're growing really well.

My NoID reed-stem epidendrum is flowering!

And this is how the first spike looks. In the meantime this plant has begun to develop a handful more spikes from other growths and it looks like I'm in for a nice display this summer. Yey!
