I know the feeling. That's how I get so many orchids. The black thumbs throw them away when finished blooming. I find one every week or so. Out by the trash.

My favorite are people who label themselves as "plant people" and kill anything they touch. There is always some convenient excuse for the latest victim(s).

I have someone like this at work. She 'borrowed' a plant that has been growing by a windowsill for the last 10 years with high light to 'care' for it and placed it in an office with no windows...can we guess what will happen?

It's just really sad because this plant went from a little tiny thing to a full and very robust tree like plant. Now, it doesn't have a prayer.

O no! Thats just bad karma right there. I hesitated giving these to my sister...but they were flowers sent in my nana's memory so I could not keep them all...even though I feared her thumbless skills lol!

@fernsdaddy; whats your count up 2? Lol! My other issue is my my friends who want my *help* with their flowers and I wind up doing all the work..for no reward b/c then they don't care for it...

Kindrag, I'm up to around 30 from friends plus all the other ones I all ready had so my orchid count is well over 100 and counting I don't even wat to think about the other plants that will need to come back into the house before frost time.

My mother has a tendency to kill plants but I got her to buy the sweetest little Phal NoID last year. It's still alive and it's flowering again.

The reason why she kills some plants; she gives them too little water, so I figured a Phal would fit her (she's just never tried one because she's heard they are difficult). I ordered her to water this Phal once a week and to keep it in an east facing window, and to protect it from direct sunlight. Seems to have worked.
