Default Phal health?

I had this one for a few months now and it has been showing new root growth and grew 3 new leaves. But i repotted because it had some dead roots. And now it looks like growth has slowed and it droops some, and the leaves aren't as firm as they should be but not quite floppy. Plus the leaves are looking a little darker than before. What needs to be done or not done to get it back on track again?

It may just be the angle of the picture, but it would seem the pot may be too large. They like to be somewhat root bound in their pots.

Phals grow roots year round, but when it starts to cool down they tend to slow down as well. Might that be it? I don't know your growing conditions and weather.

The leaves look overall happy to me. Are the edges of the old leaves turning a bit purple? Some Phals will darken their leaves in higher light conditions and sometimes get a purple like edging. If it is getting enough light to be the cause, then you may want to move it back a bit from the light source to help reduce the intensity after repotting.

I hope others will chime in here as well. Perhaps they will see something I might have missed.

Someone can fact check me on this, as I'm still pretty new, but I understood that if a phal's leaves get darker than a yellowish green, the phal is probably not getting enough light. I moved one of my phals from the bookshelf below the window, to my desk to get it a bit more light when the leaves went from a yellow green, to more of an evergreen color.

Also, the roots look really white, is that just the picture, or is the color pretty accurate? If so, then I'd say you need to water a little more frequently. Where I live, bark dries out REALLY fast, so I rely on the root color to tell me if my orchids need water or not. If the roots look like freshly cooked green beans, they're plenty hydrated. If they're silvery to white, time to water.

@paul that might be the issue with the pot because the roots that got trimmed off. And i thought light would be the issue so i moved it back some but wasnt sure because its been sitting in the spot for about 4 months and was fine so i dont know. I keep my house at about 70 plus its been hot here for a while.

@random yes some of them are white but thats because they are new growth that werent exposed to light. But the pot the media is still wet enough. I dont water until it gets completely dried out

It takes awhile for new roots to mature to the point of soaking up water when watered. They stay white until they mature. The pot is too big for this plant. The large bark is just right unless you lived somewhere it stayed hot and dry. The color is indicative of the species used in this hybrid. Haldf of my phals have some purple in the green. Some more than others. I lost my disk that loads my Sony digi camera to my PC which died and had to be fixed with a new HD. I usually take pics to show what I mean. Sorry. This phal looks ok to me. Droopy leaves don't mean anything special unless that is accompanied by shriveling. I would carefully repot this into a smaller pot and get those new roots into some bark.

You could also try some Kelp/Seaweed fertilizer to kick start some root growth.

You could use some K-L-N root hormone, that will perk it up and get the roots growing.
