Default Hanging on by the last root...

A client of mine had this orchid at bedside in a residential facility. No one had been paying much attention to it. It was potted in dirt and moss and he roots were all rotten-- except one tiny one. I decided to try to salvage it for the heck of it... Here is the way I have it set up (moss wrapped around root and dipped in water when dry to touch --2x/day; in a fish bowl with a cup of water next for humidity). What do you all think? Am I crazy?

YOUR CRAZY!!!!!! Just kidding. A pic would definitely help and if you know what kind of orchid. I'd say this plant needs as much circulation as it can get right now, and not so much agua. The fish bowl may not provide enough circulation and I'm not a big fan of sphag moss in general(although I do use it , sparingly) I'd say plant it in a clay pot with a bark mix. No more watering 2x a day either. If you want to see more root growth stabilize the plant(make sure it does not move in its pot/mount). Keep the medium fresh, no stagnant conditions. Cut off all rotten roots too.

Exito!!!

Very creative!! Its a Phalaenopsis. That setup might actually work for now. I'd still stay away from watering 2x a day.

Does it still look alive to you? The moss dries very quickly and I don't water again until its dry which is minimum 1x/day. Is 1x/day too much.

That's a nifty setup! Curious to see how it does I would think that you can let it dry out and water once a day, or less. They thrive on negligence

Its definitely alive. Keep the moss on it just like you had it and water it 1 x a day.

I bought some liquid kelp tonight which
I've been meaning to give a whirl, so I am adding that to the water I am dipping the moss in...
