The one on the left looks like the person mounted several Sedirea japonica on one olla. The one on the right looks like Neofinitea falcata

^Yep, I was gonna say the same thing Eskevingo!
I would think Bulbos would like that constant supply of moisture... They seem to like attaching to very moist things.... After all, most ppl that describe how they grow them involves them sitting in a dish/tray of water... (I only have two at the moment). The only thing would be the cooling effect. Are there any cooler/intermediate growing Bulbos out there? If there were a way to set one of these jugs/pots on a heating mat, that would help, but I'm guessing the clay jug would have to sit inside a saucer of sorts to keep the heat mat fairly dry.

Really interesting. I've recently started looking at new types of mounts and was interested in this. OK so sounds like it might not work, but if I try soaking the pot a long time first it might hmm...

I'll have to try this! Maybe an intermediate to "warmish" growing masdevallia would like it...

Edward, what is a long time? Are we talking about days or months? I'm absolutely clueless here.

Do they like really moist conditions? I've never tried a masdevallia before. I think they look cool. If clay pots would work, I'll consider getting a couple the next time I'm on a shopping spree.

I'd stay away from anything that needs quality water, as they said the clay does accumulate "salts". Maybe something that grows coastal might do better. Dendrobium lasianthera, Oncidium carthagenense or What they did a NEO and a Sedirea, 2 plants I've been meaning to get anyway.

Maybe the problem is that the roots have nowhere to grab, specifically, maybe the texture on those ollas is too fine for the orchids to really attach themselves. All of my orchids that are not mounted are in clay pots, and the roots attach themselves fiercely to the clay. But the inside and outside of those pots has a very rough texture; however, these ollas seem to be very, very fine textured.
Just my 2 cents.
