Talking Is this what I think it is on my Onc. Heaven Sented "Sweet Pea"??

Hey. ^_^

It's been awhile since I was here.

Well anyway. I have an Onc. Heaven Scented "Sweet Pea" and I was watering it today and noticed a dieting leaf. So naturally wanted to know what it was doing. I peeled back the dead leaf and saw this.

I am excited. I think it is a flower spike.

If it is out of season for these to be producing spikes. These last few months the weather has been kinda cold for the summer. Cloudy and rainy too.

I would like to know what are you guises opinion. This will be my 2nd flower spike. The first one was from one of my jewel orchid.

Thank you. ^_^

If it is outside a leaf it is a new growth, if it is against the pseudobulb it is probably a spike.

It would seem so. Also, Oncidiums tent to stop caring about the season in reference to blooming once they hit a certain size, so this doesn't surprise me.

New growth DOES sometimes come up in-between the pbulb and bract foliage, but this doesn't look like new growth

Thank you for replying. ^_^

Is it natural for the tip of the "flower spike" to be bent like the way it is in the picture??

I agree looks like a spike.

Usually spikes are next to the p-bulb, and growths further out... but neither are actually fixed. My Onc Sharry baby has had spikes further.

But this looks right for a spike

It may have gotten trapped causing the bend.
