Exclamation Warning to any newbies using Seaweed extract

Whew, I am still technically a newbie but luckily I am a country kid. So onward to the reason for this thread.

I am using Gro-more seaweed extract hopefully to get some roots going on one of my paphs.

I did this on my front porch and even my dog moved away from it quickly....AND SHE CHASES A SKUNK EACH NIGHT!! I swear she must have lost all sense of smell by now. I know I have...

So anyways this stuff is stinky and if you accidentally gets it on your fingers the smell so far 4 hours later still lingers.... I hope this works... oh and I'm hoping mine is not old or ruined because it is black and oily..

But a little goes a long way. Good luck and Good growing!

I'm using Kelpak and I don't think it has much of a smell at all. It's also not black and oily... Maybe a good alternative for indoor growers? I do have something stinky that I would avoid using on indoor plants though: Seagro. An organic fertilizer. It's a stinky dark fish emulsion and the smell of it stays in the greenhouse for the whole day, but I think it works pretty well.

You really don't smell it until you get close to it, soooo about 4ft away, Some spilled on my hand and anytime I touched my face I smell fishy smell. lol. So all my plants will be outside for the evening pending them drying out a little bit.

The seaweeds look, smell, feel etc all different.

Keep whatever you have left cool and dark - perhaps in the fridge - and it will last longer and the smells shouldn't get (any) worse.

Also, i'm sure you have already read this - but just in case: don't over-use it.

I use Neptune's Harvest. It's not oily; has the consistency of soy sauce and smells like it, too. Once it's mixed at 2 tsp/gallon there is no smell whatsoever.

Well I soaked them for about 15-20 min. then put them out on the porch and then lightly sprayed them down with fresh water....my bedroom smells slightly like a lake during a 2 week heat wave...I actually raised the window..The smell better be gone by the time I go to bed otherwise I may be sleeping on my couch. Lol!

do not forget to use only whatever your bottle says (usually one spoon per gallon!) or for some even half of this! It stinks, but it makes miracles for my orchids and roots, so I do not care!

I saw results using seaweed after one use. But I didn't see it (for real) until a few weeks after - when roots actually grew. Good luck - sounds like you are having fun and learning so that's great!
