PR is part of the US, so I don't think there should be any issues. I've not heard of any ...

We use the same postal service. No customs documents to fill out, when I ship anything, and I receive all the time too. I've seen ppl bring orchids on the plane in open bags. Should be 100% ok

Eskevingo, do you know of anyone that grows Puerto Rican native orchids for commercial sale (CITES compliant)? I know someone that is looking for a Bletia patula (flor de pasmo). Actually wouldn't mind having that myself.

I have a small division of Bletia patula I can send to you that I just took off one of my plants. PM if you want it. No I'm not a poacher, my sister and her husband have a couple hundred acres of dairy farm that they are expanding so I saved a couple orchids from their land. Andy's orchids sell's some of the psychilis species that grow here. I have pschillis krugii, but I already promised divisions to other people, maybe next season.
I grow the Bletia in a shallow clay pot. 75% coral rock (limestone) 25% promix. It can take full sun or patial shade.
Other of orchids fro PR are pretty easy to find ex.
Encyclia cochleata, epi ciliare, Epi nocturnum, Onc sphacelatum, Onc. altissima. There are a lot that no one really offers for sale either not even over here.

Hi Eskevingo!
Yes I would be interested in the B. patula division! I will PM you, and I appreciate the cultural tips.
I do some work in Puerto Rico from time to time. Just curious, is your sister & brother-in-law's dairy in the Garrochales-Arecibo area? I know there are a lot in that area, and I have done some work for one of those dairies in the past. In fact, that dairy had some very healthy Vandas growing outside the office.
I'll be in touch. Thanks again!

Actually the next town over. They live in Hatillo, this area (Arecibo, Hatillo, Utuado) seem to be the epicenter of their distribution. If you drive on rt129 you can se a lot on the roadside too. I like to keep divisions for a month b4 I send them out, make sure its OK. TTYL
