HD Bag Babies & TOF order arrived - Amazing Day For Me!
Ok everyone
after yesterday's BUMMER day I have opposite today! It started all good when going to my Home Depot that is right behind my building, just going to return some stuff, and of course when leaving I had to PASS through garden, and what I have seen was shocker - brand new, open but full, unpacked box of BAG BABIES - I was like a kid on Christmas Day - since no one was working on it, even around it, I did not waste my time and did thorough search. Dozens of Vandas, and Cattleyas they have all the time, no dendros, BUT to my shock, 3 orchids that I have never seen as Bag Babies ever, and one even from my WISH LIST. Wow Wow Wow, and each only $11.99.
So, I found only ONE of each and grab it like a kid grabs candy! Got BEALLARA MARFITCH (that's the one from my list, since Miltonias and similar are cold growing and not doing great here in Miami, this one was WANTED!), than nice big Schomburgkia (I just love those), and also EPILAELIOCATTLEYA CHARLIE BROWN (this one just looked too good to leave it there!). I am extremely happy at that point with my day! Ohh, all plants are great size, and only Schomburgkia had some inside the pot nasty issues, but not so bad and I cleaned it and mounted anyway! Check the pics for all, Beallara is already in Hydroton (I could not stand sphagnum as medium), and Cow Horn baby mounted on the cork slab! Than I picked up my box from Tropical Orchid Farm, brought it home with bag babies, and my Christmas was going still on - when I took all packed orchids out of the box, there was one EXTRA, so I checked the invoice and it said BONUS FREE PIECE. Wow Wow Wow, amazing, very happy, this was first ever order from TOF. Their plants are immaculate, perfect condition, healthy and so cute! The ONLY bummer is that the free plant is Pleurothallis Prolifera, gorgeous piece IN BLOOM, but COLD GROWING, so I know it would just suffer here like my dracula does. I will decide what to do with that one, but still, you can imagine, after yesterday this is really CHRISTMAS IN SUMMER FOR ME. I did have no chance to mount all mini's to my vase vivarium and small terrarium, that will come tomorrow, so now sharing the pics of BAG BABIES and my TOF order. ENJOY

All 3 Lephantopsises will go to my orchid vase vivarium and mini terrarium tomorrow, also bulbo rosary beads, than bulbo ambrosia is already mounted on the cork slab also (forgot to take pic), and the free Pleurothallis - well, will see, I am thinking about using one more of these small glass wood terrariums and make it cold one, and put my dracula lotax and this free baby in, cooling it with humidifier, i did try it and it seems working well, but not sure about that:-)

OHH OHH, and did I forgot to mention, my bulbophyllum longiflorum totally surprised me today with it's first spike this year! Totally missed it, and it is long. So I guess slowly my bulbo blooming season starts:-) Usually once first goes, than all other follows soon:-))) As I said, pretty awesome day today!!!!!

Awesome!!! Congrats!! Haha, I thought I'd told u that TOF always sent a freebie heheheh, that's just another reason to love them!
Just give that pleuro. a chance, they actually (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) don't grow too many true cold growers (coolish, yes), I think for the most part, if u can provide intermediate temps, you should be good... If I'm wrong about all that, sorry, but I'd still say try to stay closer to intermediate, cuz we all know here in the south, that's about the best anybody can do.. that Pleuro is really pretty tho.
I went a little crazy with my Lowe's bag babies recently heh they were like $6.99! ...I got 6 of 'em...
Edited to add: Wait... Home depot has orchids online!?! (didn't see that post, it appeared while I was typing!)

Kindrag, I do not think HD sells bag babies online, but worth to check, You mean Schomburgkia, that's one of my favorite orchids, I have pretty big one for years, and when I saw this one, I just had to take it just because it is Schomburgkia. I wish I could say they had more, I would be more than happy to get you one ans ship. I will keep my eye on them and if they appear again, I will PM you:-)This HD is 10 steps from my house, so I have no problem to stop at any time:-)

Yes Silken, Christmas it is:-) You know, I was always avoiding to even LOOK into the bag babies for a years, thinking these are some small seedlings, and never watered, but like month ago I did just went through them and scored Dendrobium Aggregatum, and since than I did buy so many. I am always shocked how well established and big they are, for $11.99, amazing, much bigger than the same plants offered online and for much more! So now every time when in HD, I must check this section, and today, to find unpacked box, that was truly dream come true!

I am really thinking to keep it inside the house, and make one more of these wood& glass terrariums for colder growing ones, what to hack, why not:-) I did not know about the free:-) It always make your day, especially when you don't know about it:-)

I grow a Pl. prolifera in intermediate conditions, it does great. I actually bought it when I was living in North Carolina and the greenhouse I purchased it from was HOT inside! I agree with Island Girl that you shouldn't have an issue growing it. Mine is mounted and I get compliments on it from visitors even when it's not in bloom.
