Wow, wish the HDs around here carried the bag babies. The Lowe's round here have them, but the selection and stock has not changed much over the past few months. The bag babies they have left are looking pretty sad too.

Merry Christmas! LOL And lucky you. Years ago I happened to be at HD when the bag babies were delivered and I went home with a bunch. Have fun with your new 'chids.

What a difference a day (and reputable vendors) makes! All those new plants are beautiful, and I'm so glad you found some lovely plants at your local HD; what a wonderful surprise!
I read a post about putting a smaller clay pot inside a large one, with moist sand between, to keep a cool-loving plant happier in the heat. I'm sure you'll find something that works.
Good luck and 'grats on the nice haul. ^_^

I do not know Schomburgkia that would be not gorgeous when blooming! There are many ways how to grow them, I guess, so choose the one that fits your zone and possibilities. I love them mounted, and remember, they should be always mounted on big piece of wood, they really do not like re potting or re mounting at all, so give it enough wood from the beginning to get attached and grow. As I said, mine gets full late afternoon and evening sun, I water every 2 days during summer, and seaweed is great as well. Good Luck!

Ooh! I just Googled "Better-Gro" orchids and found that they're selling the "cow horn" orchid online through Orchidfanatic.com. ^_^

I have actually special COOLING pots, you mount the plant outside the pot and inside you keep water at all time, and it keeps roots around 10 degrees cooler. I might try that!

I would say it will definitely keep the plant cooler, I do use cooling pots though, they work fine for me (except when I mounted on one my masdevallia, and she did not really like it at all:-() But the same principle, the wet sand will cool the pot inside and therefor the temperature for roots will be lower than outside air!
