good luck with that schomburgkia. Mine is 3 years old and 2 ft high with 5 huge bulbs in a 12" pot and nary a sign of a spike. It gets much bigger and doesnt bloom, Its gone to the meeting for the raffle table.
Its a schomburgkia splendida 'cauca' and very hard to find.

Phal
it was my very first time seeing it in HD.I had luck couple times to come after they restock, but never ever did I see that some worker left full box unattended for me to PICK MY XMAS gifts:-) and these 3 orchids I took were of course only 1 piece each:-) the rest were regular cattleya's and vandas they have most of the time! As they say, I was at right time at right place, I guess:-) It was a payback for yesterday's bummer order:-)

Thank Nikkik, I do love it as a plan as well, I think it actually looks great without the blooms, and the blooms are really small. I will give it a shot, and keep it in the house, where temperature is between 70-76 max. I read it likes dry warm during the day and humid low nights, right? May I ask where do you grow it and tips?

Thanks Squirrel, I have actually one specimen plant, it was given to me last year, it is over 15 years old, mounted on huge wood, and it is blooming every year. I love that plant.

I actually grow this one in my kitchen window because it's way too hot and sunny in my solarium where I grow most of my plants. It gets morning sun for about two hours and bright shade the rest of the day. I water it as soon as it gets dry. I go easy on the fertilizer, as I noticed some sensitivity when I fertilized with Jack's.
RJ, if your schomburgkia needs a new home! I have a nice comfy spot waiting for it!

Mine is outside, mounted, water nearly every day or every second day in our hot summer. Fertilize quite often, and lot of seaweed, big difference in new roots since I started seaweed! it is on FULL afternoon sun, no filtered, direct! If you will walk sometimes on Lincoln Street on South Beach, you will see Schomburgkias from "space", I have no clue how many dozens years they are mounted on those palm trees and who mounted them, they got only what they got from the full burning sun and Florida rain, they are the size of small cow and they bloom like crazy. Lincoln street is in general great exhibition of extremely huge orchids, Vandas, Dendros, Schomburgkias, they are there just mounted on the palm trees and doing great!

Island Girl, you know what, I have to, I will take pics and post here. I do not go there too often, pretty much hate it there, it is tourist spot, crowded, and suck for everything parking included. However, I do work as a tour guide (only as a fun job part time for European Agency), so next time I will have some rich peps from Europe and take them to SOBE I'll take my camera:-)

Ok, I thought so, however, you know what, I am going to HD again today, returns again fore some materials I did buy, so I will have a LOOK again. I mean, i truly went through that box fast hoping no one will tell me something, and I did search for more of these, but found only one, although you NEVER KNOW! I will check all the bag babies today and if by any chance there will be one more schomburgkia, I'll get it and shoot you a PM later today. If not, than maybe you can get the one online, mine is cow horn - if you google that one you'll get the color. I saw few on eBay also, different colors, and they seem smaller/younger. This one seems like it has well established pseudo bulbs, and even the fact 2 of them are yellowish and look not pretty that's pretty much how they look when the plant is getting older (on my 15 years old plant they all look like that:-))

Super, hope you will win it! When does the auction end? Good Luck! I will check anyway in HD, I would get another one if there is, for that price anyway!
