She mentioned some indicators that would be of real concern in my opinion. The severity of the concern is not terribly high at the moment considering that the Phal has some good healthy roots to make a strong recovery in a fairly short period of time, but that doesn't mean there is no concern whatsoever.
Those indicators of concern were:
1. Wrinkled leaves.
Could the result of:
A. Under watering.
B. Plant not receiving enough water due to possible root damage.
2. Brown roots that peel. Signifying dead roots, unless you can verify that this characteristic is of live healthy roots.
I also happen to have both the coarse mix and the fine mix for the Grubler's brand orchid bark mix, so I know how fine the grade of the wood chips to the fine mix is, and imo, it is not appropriate for growing Phals.
