okay totally broke my promise to myself.....
I told my self I had enough phals. I honestly did not want anymore either...I told myself if I am going to buy orchids get something else thats not available everywhere.....then I saw this one and could not resist...
Does anybody have this issue? You have enough of that one orchid and really want something different then wind up getting it anyways?

Maybe your looking at it all wrong? You know you like phals and you know how to bloom them. Just because they're common doesn't mean you should feel guilty.
Especially don't feel guilty for that one. It's got very interesting coloring.

I was just going to have the one orchid my daughter bought for me as practice for when she runs away to become a very busy college student.
Then somehow, I found myself purchasing this mini orchid... and then I ended up with another phal hybrid... and now I'm trying to figure out how to mount shelving on my window in my office so I can have a whole collection of mini orchids because that would be so totally awesome! I figured that I could put about nine of them in the window if they were all about the same size as my mini phal, and they should all have matching pots, so I found a place that sold those.
And then it hit me...
I am becoming addicted.
So yes, I understand completely. Now, I am going to go try to convince my husband that putting up shelving in front of my office window is a brilliant idea, for which he will thank me later. Wish me luck!

I have never brought them to spike before this is my first wintering with them.
I thought this one had extremely unique colors as well.
Even the roots are different then my other phals. The roots are spotted....

The only issue that I had with this one was that it had several rotted roots and there was ACTUAL SPONGE in the media that stuck to my orchid roots...

Never apologise, never explain, never regret...Thats my mantra when it comes to orchids. There are people who spend upwards of $10 per day for starbucks coffee. Whatever floats your boat !!!!!!!. I'd rather buy orchids

Good point, i just really wanted a different variety. But man this one caught my eye and I could not walk away. It was even in a large properly sized clear plastic orchid pot! Except for the YICKY "potting media"... But all I can say is im running out of window sills!!!!

I've done that plenty of times. No more supermarket phals... except this one... and this one. I stopped buying supermarket phals for a while then found a new excuse to get them... I need some to brighten up my office so buy them for that then take them home to be replaced by another in the office... my phals already at home are too precious to me to bring into the office with the fear of them being killed by colleges. So... I'm still buying supermarket phals years after my 'no more supermarket phals' decision.
Of course the one you've just got is gorgeous... I would have trouble resiting that

What? Buy another orchid I hadn't wanted or planned on? Of course! LOL!!! And then I tell myself that if one comes in, one has to go out. Sure, right, I'll just look around and see which one goes.....tomorrow.....
